A young girl, Anne, and her father move into an old house with her aunt. The relationship between Anne and her father has become strained due to the death of her mother. Anne takes an interest in an old room upstairs that was once a nursery. She talks incessantly about Jennifer, Rose, and Mary. Her father and aunt assume she is speaking of her dolls, but come to realize Jennifer, Rose, and Mary once occupied the nursery.
