Tentacles (1977)
"Tentacles! It's turning the beach into a buffet!" Well said! There's a giant octopus terrifying the residents Ocean Beach. (They seem really oblivious though!) An underwater tunnel that's under construction has disrupted the sea life in the community. A giant octopus has begun terrorizing anyone who goes into the water. Oddly, there's an ill timed sailboat race when the creature seems most active and aggressive. Who...or what...will save the residents from this deadly menace?
The story is that a mechanical octopus was constructed for the making of this movie but as soon as they put it in the water, it sank. So, there's a lot of stock footage that's used. I couldn't help but notice how the soundtrack sounded like a 70's Italian horror movie.
Notable appearances in the film by John Huston, Shelly Winters, Bo Hopkins, Claude Akins, and Henry Fonda.
