Alfred Hitchcock Hour: The Jar (1964)
Poor Charlie! He gets no respect. His wife is cheating on him and he's just a farmer from the holler (hollow). On a trip into the city, he goes to a carnival and he's mesmerized by an attraction in a jar. He sees how the city folk admire the attraction and he imagines that if he had this jar, he would be admired and respected, as well. He manages to buy the jar for $12.25. When he returns to Wilder's Hollow, his jar becomes the main attraction, evoking wonder and awe from all of his friends and neighbors. Charlie finds respect and admiration with his new possession, but not everyone in Wilder's Hollow is so enamored with his jar. His wife, Thedy Sue, is hellbent on proving him a fool, but Charlie's not going to let that happen!
